The MODFABE project will attend the\u00a0AGU Fall Meeting 2022<\/a>, taking place on December 12-16th, 2022 in Chicago, IL, and online everywhere. The abstract\u00a0\u2018Combining farmers and irrigation consortia\u2019s perspectives on climate change to reduce risk aversion and reinforce policy making at the regional scale’<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0will be presented as online poster in session GC41E: Implications of Climate Change, Extreme Events, and Adaptation Potentials for Global Agriculture I. Extensive research has been carried out to deepen farmers\u2019 awareness, perceived impacts, and associated adaptive capacity. However, less attention was paid to irrigation consortia\u2019s experiences, even their relevance in water and farming systems management and climate change adaptation policy. This poster will present a triple focus on climate change awareness, perceived impacts, and adaptation measures and barriers, combining farmers and irrigation districts portfolios. Results from surveying 460 farmers and 13 irrigation districts managers in northern Italy will be presented to compare both narratives while clustering their profiles, identifying common patterns and driving factors influencing adaptive capacity, and testing local and regional adaptation policies. A better understanding of farmers\u2019 and irrigation districts\u2019 perspectives is indeed fundamental to reinforcing policy making and promoting accurate actions as it allows (i) focusing on the specific behaviours to be changed, (ii) examining the driving factors motivating those behaviours, (iii) defining and applying different interventions, and (iv) systematically evaluating the effects of these interventions on the resulting perceptions and attitudes.<\/p>\n
